This just makes me want an older Volvo even more. If these can take this sort of abuse, one about ten years newer can probably take my daily commute and weekend hoonage just fine...

Look for a 1993+. Thicker con rods, piston oil squirters, and can eat massive boost with no mods. Just keep oil in it. I've owned a couple and my last one was a wagon version of the one above and I ran it to almost 300k miles and could still do epic brakestands and donuts with it. I gave it to some kid (single dad) who my folks try to help out and he didn't listen to my advice to check the oil and top it off every time you fill it up and you guessed it, the asswipe blew it up.
